Which stabilizers to use for machine embroidery?

Stabilizer is the foundation of your embroidery and is a necessity to support your fabric and thread. Without the use of the proper stabilizer the registration of the design maybe off, you might have puckering, and your fabric may distort. Your choice of stabilizer can “make or break” your stitch out.

Are you confused on which stabilizers to use for machine embroidery? We 're going to talk all about stabilizers and how to choose the right stabilizer when doing machine embroidery.

Sticky self-adhesive tear away embroidery stabilizer

Sticky tearaway embroidery stabilizer is ideal for hard to hoop items. For much denser designs or unstable fabric. Or if you want to float something on your hoops you can use sticky stabilizer.

Suitable object:bulky towels, cuffs, collars, socks, doll clothes, edges, cap, backpacks, napkin corners, pockets etc. without basting them. Also use for fabrics that can be damaged by the hooping process, fabrics like leather, velvet, brushed flannel, towel, fleece and satin etc.

Cut away machine embroidery stabilizer

It is a permanent stabilizer will remain forever affixed to the embroidery and will provide permanent support for the design, it also helps retain the design's shape after repeated washing.

Cutaway is thick,it almost feels like a canvas. Cutaway is something you probably need to have for things especially for those denser stitch outs or the vintage looking ones that need more stabilization.

Suitable object:Best used on knits, fleece, denim and for fabric that is unstable, moves or distorts when tugged on. Great for hoop embroidery, applique, thread stretching, computerized lace embroidery and decorative stitch sewing.

No show mesh machine embroidery stabilizer

Best used on light colored fabric. Unlike traditional cutaway stabilizer, no show mesh eliminates the backing show through light colored fabric because of semitransparent & sheer texture.

It gives you the strength and durability of like a cutaway. We really recommend using it on anything that you want more stabilizer than a tearaway, but you don't want to use the bulk of a cutaway. This is a great option.

Suitable object:Perfect for chest logo, knit,Polo shirts, infant items etc. Be helpful when you make embroidery on a small area design, but can't hoop the fabric and stabilizer together.

Tear away embroidery stabilizer

It provides temporary support for embroidery projects. They are best used on firmly woven fabrics and fabrics made from natural fibers. The tear away embroidery stabilizer can be torn away easily yet provides adequate stability.

Tearaway like it says it tears away on the back you have to be careful though when you're removing it from the item you embroidered.Hoop the tear away embroidery stabilizer together with the fabric, then stitch.

Suitable object:Best used on natural fibers, thicker and softer fabrics. Great for hoop embroidery, applique, thread stretching, computerized lace embroidery and decorative stitch sewing.

Wash away - water soluble machine embroidery stabilizer

It dissolves completely when immersed in cold or warm water leaving no backing at all. A great choice for both embroidery backing and topping. Perfect when you need an embroidery stabilizer to be disappeared.

This is kind of must-have for if you're doing like fleece blankets stockings anything with  fluff. You're gonna want to have this. It can create a barrier between fabric and embroidery so that creates a nice clean stitch out.

Hoop the wash away embroidery stabilizer together with the fabric, then stitch. After finishing your project, just put the embroidery design into water, the stabilizer will disappear leaving nothing behind.

Suitable object: terry cloth, towels, fleece and other fluffy materials that requires the complete removal of the stabilizer. They are most widely used in free standing embroidery applications such as free standing lace (FSL).

Fusible iron on embroidery stabilizer

Iron on the shiny side (glue coating) face the wrong side of your project. It eliminates annoying shifting, sliding and puckering of material. Totally stabilizes any fabric in seconds with no time-consuming pinning. And it creates a real smooth cut so you don't have a lot of frame.

Suitable object: It is also helpful when you make embroidery on a small area design, but can’t hoop the fabric and stabilizer together.
